Joan Crawford was born Lucille LeSueur on March 23, 1908 in San Antonio, Texas. She began her acting career in 1925. By 1970, she had made over 80 films.
In 1946, Crawford won the Best Actress Academy Award for her role in Mildred Pierce. In 1948 and 1953 she was nominated again for the Best Actress Academy Award for her roles in Possessed and Sudden Fear.
In 1959, Crawford began her career with Pepsi-Cola as a member of the board of directors. A position she held until 1973.
Joan Crawford passed away on May 10, 1977.
